With the help of this forum I was able to select and build my new budget system which consisted of:

- GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
- AMD Athlon II X3 425 Rana 2.7GHz CPU
- Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Memory
- SAPPHIRE 100295HDMI Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
- CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

I got the system built but there was an issue with one of the memory sticks so I had to return them to NewEgg and it appears that they might not have any replacement in stock so I am in a dilemma about what type of DDR3 RAM to buy. When I go to Gigabyte's compatible memory list most of the brands they list are not stocked by NewEgg. So I'm a little lost. I'd like to stick with 1333 if possible but don't want to get the wrong kind. The games I built this system for are Far Cry 2, the Hitman series, and the older UT series. I don't really get into the newer stuff. The crucial ballistix sticks I got were 7-7-7-24 and ran at 1.65v. Is this something I need to stick with. I know the norm for the mobo is 1.5v so I'd prefer to stick around that if possible (unless it will affect gameplay). Will it make a difference if I were to step down to some Kingston Valueram DDR2 1066 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) ? What about this memory for my system (which is on Gigabyte's approved list), its DDR3 1600 though... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] CL9D-4GBNQ

Appreciate your thoughts.

You must use ddr3 ram. I would get the standard 1.5V ones. There are other retailers besides NewEgg. Try Direct Tiger or ebay.

Hi, the CL of that RAM is very high. For a good performance, you need a ram with CL 7 or CL 8
