i dont even know if this is in the right place but anyway, i have directtv, and we have a reciever in the basement of my house that NOBODY uses cause everyone watched HD on the "big tv" so i want to use the reciever and be able to watch it through my pc monitor, how can i do this?
if im missing any info let me know, thanks.
What are your available outputs on the receiver and what are the available inputs on the monitor? If it will only output via standard coaxial cable i dont think there is a way to do it.

on the monitor i have right now, it has i beliebe 2 DVI ports and maybe a VGA port (not sure, i am not home right now)
and i have no idea what outputs are on the receiver, i will check when i get home tonight
If your receiver has HDMI output but your monitor does not, you might get the video portion over with an HDMI - to DVI converter plug. Then you'd have to see if there's an audio output from the receiver that can feed into your speakers or to the computer's audio input.
