I have 80gb of harddisk and my cdrive is of 20gb which is totally full and my computer continuously flashes me of low disk space and its memory varies and sometimes it switches off automatically plz help me..

20 gig is small for an OS partition. I like XP partitions to be at least 40 gig or you will run out of room fast as you discovered. Run disk cleanup. Use the "advanced" tab in disk cleanup to also delete all but the last restore point. If you don't use hibernation, disable it then delete the hiberfil.sys file. Reduce the size of disk space that the trash can uses and also the amount of space reserved for system restores.

You can also use windirstat to locate large files and folders.

Does your other partition contains a lot of free space? If that you could reduce some free space from other partition then add the free space into your OS partition. More details skill please refer to "how to solve low disk space"

You can use gparted to resize your partitions for free, and give your OS more space. If you have a lot of RAM, your hibernation file is probably pretty big. If you don't need to use hibernation, this file can be removed by typing "powercfg /h off" at an elevated command prompt. Your transaction data could be taking up a lot of space. This can be reset with the instructions at http://nerdsknowbest.blogspot.com/2013/01/phantom-space-used-in-windows-7-windows.html as well as setting limits on shadow storage. If you don't resize your partition, you might want to shrink your page file and/or move it a different drive as well.
