i7 920 build.. just need some quick pointers on three main things.

1. Mobo.. I was going for the ASUS P6T Deluxe v2

Was pretty dead set on the ASUS but this EVGA board has caught my attention also. Any suggestions on this would be helpful!

2. Heatsink.. so I have looked and looked and looked.. pretty much what I have seen on air that one of the best 1366 heatsinks available is the Prolimatech Megahalems http://www.frozencpu.com/products/88...AM3.html#blank
The only issue with this thing is the amount size/room it takes on the mobo with the ram slots.. or so I hear. comments on that would be useful also -_-

3. I need someone to help with finding me a fan controller! Price isn't an issue and even if you don't own it and you think it would be worth trying would be enough for me. Thanks much! ( It can have temp monitoring or what not doesn't matter just what you think looks like a nice quality product. )

Oh, yeah, I needed some suggestions on some nice 120mm fans for the heatsink also, forgot about that one.

The P6T Deluxe V2 is a fantastic board. The link to the EVGA board is unfortunately broken, so I can't give you much input on it, but I recommend the P6T regardless. lol.

You are correct: the Megahalems is arguably the best 1366 cooler available. Two problems are often brought up with it though... 1) it's fairly difficult to find. 2) it doesn't come with any fans, so you'll need to add roughly $20 to it's cost depending on what you get for it.

You might also want to look at the Noctua SE1366. It has similar performance and comes with 2 very good fans. Come to think of it, I'll just direct you here:
Best LGA 1366 Compatible Cooler

Noctua fans are apparently top-notch in all categories. Some others move more air, some others are quieter, but Noctua fans tend to balance everything very well.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188048&cm_re=evga_classified-_-13-188-048-_-Product This EVGA classified board was the one was what I was looking at.. I was always interested in ASUS more than EVGA for mobos but I bring this up for 2 main reasons. This EVGA board seems to have all the bells and whistles you could think of then again so does the ASUS board 2. EVGA has one of the best warranties you could find. I mention this mainly because down the road next year more than likely we will get to see our "Gulftown" 6cores coming out and the awesomeness of 1366 again.. recycle our mobos anyone? ;p

As for the heatsink.. yes, I did like that Noctua for a while.. I honestly just can't stand the color of their fans.. I mean to the point of coloring I would even pick up the http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/prolimatech-mega-shadow-deluxe-edition-cpu-cooler.html Mega Shadow <3 just the extra 15 for the black finish. Quality wise I will still consider some Noctua fans I guess.

That's the board I assumed you were trying to link to. It's overpriced and bloated IMO. If you're a person who would use all it's features and would take advantage of 3-way SLI and overclock like a mad scientist, then maybe it's worth it. For me and my money, I'll stick with ASUS and their P6T line.

I agree that Noctua fans can be downright ugly with their brownish beige color, but their performance is hard to match especially for the price. I guess you could always give them a little coat of spray paint. :)

I don't have a case window, so I aesthetics are meaningless to me...

BTW that Mega Shadow Deluxe Black just looks amazing.

Yeah, looks like i'll stand off with the p6t deluxe v2 for now and wait for the other models down the road. Any thoughts or knowledge on good quality fan controllers? much thanks for the replies so far.

All X58 motherboards will perform about the same. Don't pay more for features like triple SLI or maximum overclocking controls unless you will use them. ASUS,EVGA and Gigabyte are all good.

Pick one of the top ten coolers from this excellent review:
http://www.frozencpu.com/resource/r24/Best_CPU_Cooler_Performance_LGA1366_-_Q1_2009.html?id=JqPuITTJ

Prolimatech was tops, but there is little difference to the next ones.

I used the Zalman mfc1 front panel controller in the past, but abandoned it. It worked fine, but I found that I prefer to set the fans at a constant speed and forget it. The zalman fanmate is a good cheap one fan controller that goes inside the case. I think it is less annoying to have a constant speed fan than to have it heat controlled, reffing up and down all the time.

Well, I was thinking of a fan controller because.. 1,2,3.. 4 case fans total and 2 heatsink fans. Cooler Master HAF full tower.. three large 230's and one 140mm in the back. I also read on another forum someone mentioned getting San Aces.. I have never really heard of San Aces fans. ( for the heatsink )
