could someone tell me how many diff p/4
i have a 478 ,what can i upgrade to p4p800asus,
iwant to keep my old board for now

Solution
The p4p800 is over 6 years old, has an AGP graphics slot and is indeed a socket 478 board. There's no point in upgrading the cpu. There may be a reason to spend $35 or so on a new graphics card (probably something like a GeForce 6200 or 7600). Otherwise look to a new system.

The top CPU you can put in there is a P4 3.4Ghz, available on Ebay for between £35~45. But I would say you are probably better off saving your cash towards a new build as P4 is already two generations old, and in todays terms is a bit of a dinosaur. The same amount of money would buy you a second hand Core2Duo chip, add another ~£30 for a second hand motherboard and ~30 for a couple of gigs of DDR2 and you would have a system that would blow a 3.4Ghz P4 out of the water!

A P4 3.4 GHz isn't too bad if you're just using it for office tasks and what not. If your current CPU is a slower P4 then it may make sense to upgrade, but don't expect miracles, especially if your current CPU is above 2.6GHz. If you want to play games though there isn't too much of a point in investing in such as old system.
