Just bought a

250GTS 512MB 256bit GDDR3 EVGA card
3.06 Core 2 Duo CPU
600W PSU
and 2GB of DDR 2 1066 ram
and a new mobo for this

upgrading from a

8600 GT
2 GB DDR800 ram
450W PSU
2.2 Core 2 Duo

I want to know if i'll be able to play higher end games like crysis with this new system?
I'm going to give Aion a shot but mostly just excited to play all my steam games without a hiccup and starcraft and diablo when they launch (oh and left for dead 2)

if anyone can give me their opinion on the new rig that would rule! (im running XP 32 bit by the way, not a fan of vista/havent tried 7)

1400x900 resolution 19 inch

im actually not the type to hold up a photograph to my monitor and try to get all my friends to stroke my e-peen

and the only reason i upgraded ram from DDR800 is because i thought the mobo only took DDR2

and ill post that in one second jsc

think ill be ok with just the 2GB ddr1066 stick? (my 2gbs of DDR2 800 are 1gb each, so if i throw those in wont the speeds go down to the 800's? )

Actually if you use the 2x 1GB sticks in Dual channel, they might perform better than that single 2GB DDR2 1066MHz stick because of the Dual-Channel config...

As for using all the 3 sticks, you can do so but like I said you will loose Dual-Channel config and like you said it will slow down...

Or you can sell that 2x1GB sticks and buy yourself another matching 2GB DDR2 1066MHz RAM stick...and run those in Dual-Channel

Your memory choice was bad. You should have just added another 2 gig of 800mhz memory. 1066 memory on this Intel platform is useless. At this point though, you should buy another stick to match what you have and install it.
I would say that the 2 sticks of older memory you had would perform better than the 1 stick you have now. You need to ALWAYS install memory in pairs.
I would have opted for a slightly better video card as well.
Although its quite a jump from where you were, it's still a mediocore card, especially for Crysis.
It would have been worth the money to at very least bought the 260.
You asked, you got my 2 cents.
But, all in all, it should be a considerable step up from what you had.
