I have a 500gb hard drive, only 300.1gb is visable by system. can this be rectified if i upgrade bios. the bios is v1.0 26/4/2002

Probably not. If you upgrade your windows version, or install the latest service pack, then it might partition the whole 500 gb. I use the hardrive software to prep a new drive. It may ask you for what windows version you will be using. The software can also make a clone of another drive. Maxblast 5.0 works with seagate or maxtor drives. Other brands have similar software that acts as a boot device. It comes with retail box versions, or you can download it for free.
