I've read through the i5 2500k overclocking guide provided by Tom's Hardware and was wondering is it really necessary to upgrade my BIOS? I'm running F2 or 3 now, but it goes up to F6 and seems like a lot of hassle. Also it states that I should wipe Windows 7 and re-install it! I was shocked to read this as it's quite a big deal. I just want to do a 4.0GHz overclock to get a few frames as that's all I need. But to restore my computer to basically factory settings seems a bit harsh. Can anyone help clear this up for me?

Well, if you aren't having problems with the current BIOS keep it and overclock to see results.
