Windows 7 display wrong disk size when reformatting

so i have an 8gb micro sd card that need reformatting but when i try to do so the pop up window that displays the formatting options says the drive has 1.4tera bytes, and when it does try to reformat the drive it starts but never finishes, even after two days of waiting. the formatting progress bar never even starts.

what can I do to get rid of this problem?

  1. You should never use the Windows format tool on a SD card, you must use special software. Try the official SD Formatter tool.
  2. tried it but it also said the flash drive was a 1.3 tb drive...quite impossible with today's technology... and couldn't format it no matter what i did...
  3. Then the drive has failed.
