Reducing Raid Array Size

I have 4 drives, each 320GB each. This is for my main system volume which is 4x drives in a raid 0.

I reduced the total logical drive size to 300GB hoping that my onboard controller would short-stroke the drives.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

It all depends where it freed up the space from. I would image your volume, recreate the array and then image back to ensure its written to the beginning of the drives. You could them utlize the remain space in another logical volume for something else, alsthough they will compete for disk IOPS
