Well, i have a i7 920 with ZOTAC AMP 9600GT and 8GB of kingston ddr3 1333 ram

NICE setup eh?

well i downloaded 3dmark vantage TRIAL and got like 6000 points. That doesnt make sence?

My video card driver is like 2 months old (I KNOW THERE IS AN UPDATE) but what is my problem?

Your video card is your problem!! The 9600GT is not the "best of cards" for benchmarkings. If you want higher scores I would recommend upgrading your GPU. Your score is similar to what I had running with a Q6600@3.0 with a 9800GTX on my old system. I jumped up to 12,000'ish when I added a second 9800GTX and 21,816 with my i7 920 & GTX 260 Core 216 SC's in SLI.

Also, don't read too much into your score. If your system can do all that you want it to do, your system is working just fine.

no, the 9600 is an average card. not even a low end gamer grade card. jsut an average user GPU.

i get 1200 points on vantage with my system (in sig). and since my GPU is massively more powerful than a 9600, id say your score is actually pretty good.

wait you get 1200 points? that is not right, and i get 6000?
cuz like pplz get 20000 with rigs like mine but better video cards

Again... Your score is lower because of your 9600GT. You upgrade to a GTX275, 4890 or higher GPU and you will see your points jump up. Go with dual cards and you start getting in the 20,000+ range.

Welshmousepk met 12,000 not 1200, since the 4890 is about twice as powerful of a video card as your 9600GT.

Not even at 800x600 could it do that.

No it won't. Just stop it. We are like Santa Claus here, we know when you are telling the truth, and we know when you are fibbing.
Your 9600GT is quite under-powered when matched to the rest of your system, and that is what is causing your low score.
But, if the card plays the games you like to play at acceptable rates and eye candy to you, then forget about benchmark scores, they mean nothing.

thanks for the correction tecmo, i meant 12,000.

@jit, yeah well said. he could prbably 'max out' crysis in DX9 mode (ie, not max, but second to max as DX9 allows) and get playable rates. but it would be choppy as hell. maybe 15-20fps.

but hell, i completed crysis on my N10. with an atom processor and 9300m. as long as you are tolerant, 'playable' can be some pretty low numbers...

At what screen resolution can you run Crysis on MAX with a 9600GT, and when you say MAX you need to be more specific.

Also when you ran the Vantage bench did your overall score have a prefix letter like E, P, X?

And FYI the previous suggestions that your GPU is your weak spot are absolutely correct.

:heink:

Some how, on that resolution we dont believe you.

Most of these setting are all max setting in crysis at 1280 x 1024 (which is lower than your resolution) are having trouble running above 25 fps without sli/cf.

Also tiger Tv is apart of tiger direct. Which there better at selling stuff than benching stuff...

i have to say, as much as im not convinced the 9600 could max out crysis, i do belive 25fps to be more than adequete.

personally, i find anything above 14fps playable. and anything above 20 comfortable.

but i guess lots of time using low end PCs has given me super-tolerance to crappy framerates.

2X AA is not maxxed out, thats where your statement was doubted, when we say MAX we mean MAXXED period everything set all the way.

So no offence OK.

i think we just found the next crysis tester.  for me, i cant go below 25 fps.

What res did you run them at, and what was your frame rate? I can tell you that neither of them were very high.

I got just under 6000 with a 9600GT and E6600. So to answer your question and the original point of the thread: There's nothing wrong with your score.

@All: The 9600GT can, IMO, just play Crysis at 1680x1050 on high (textures on max along with a few other settings that don't affect performance much). A custom configuration which balances most of the visuals of high with a few tweaks using settings closer to medium makes it much better though. It doesn't handle AA very well, and I always left this disabled.
