Nvidia DX11 really not important?

With Nvidias new card....does it even need DX11 for the new features??? Does it work on the same principle as physX?? That didnt need DX11?

might sound stupid but dont know how it works...

What new features do you mean? DirectX is just an API that lets you tap into the power of the GPU via a standard interface, rather than knowing the nitty-gritty details of the architecture (which they don't ever release).

Every DX revision requires some hardware changes to support what the API would be capable of doing. Unlike CPUs, in the video card market the API would usually dictate what direction the hardware would take. Though now it is becoming a question of, if the hardware makers could do it. (Nvidia with DX 10.1)
