I'm niterested in a free benchmark program I can install to check two computers against each other. Once is a P4 2.8GHz and the other is a dual Xeon 2.2GHz (both have 2GB of RAM).

I need to learn whis i sprobably better for use as a server running Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005, plus a .NET program (and nothing else). The P4 2.8GHz machine can be upgraded to 4GB of RAM, the dual Xeon is at its limit.

The database itself is very small and I 'suspect" 2GB is adequate but want to test with a benchmark and hopefuly detemrine if one machine is better than the other. Moreover, please don't suggest I buold up a new machine, I don't have the luxury within the budget this year.

Finally, what I can budget for is to replace the existing 34GB 10k RPM SCSI drive with a 32GB SSD because the hard drive requries a fan and is rather noisy.

Advice on which benchmark to try for purpose of comparing these two machines>

Thanks in advance!
