I'm buying components for my first build, a new i7 860. Something I had not considered until recently is the thermal paste. Do I need to buy some paste to use with the stock cooler? If so, what would you recommend?

If you do recommend it - since I was not planning on buying a separate cooler now, if I did choose to get one at some point, would it be easy to clean the thermal paste off the CPU and stock cooler? What is the process?

Or, would you recommend getting the a new cooler now? If so, what do you recommend? Part of the reason I was going to hold off was there does not seem to be too many options available yet. I'm also not sure if I'm going to overclock the CPU. I'm waiting for good reviews of the benefits & work involved.

The stock cooler comes with thermal paste pre-applied. You only need to buy thermal paste if you're using an aftermarket cooler that doesn't come with it.
