Hi all, I have an Asus Z68 motherboard and the i2600k CPU. Currently i'm using a 3Gbps hardrive. If I were to switch to a 6Gbps hardrive, will I notice an increase in performance?

More about : 3gbps sata 6gbps sata

Maybe, maybe not. You are simply referring to the interface maximum transfer speed, but there are other things to consider like platter speed, seek time, etc.

Also, your usage matters. In other words, are you editing large video files that need to quickly steam, or are you using large database apps where random read/write speed is more important?

You will probably will not notice much difference. MAYBE if you play a game that has levels; the levels will load faster which might be worth it.

Only performance boost for a SATA 6 HDD on SATA III is in the burst speed.
