Vista hard drive memory loss

Hello,
i am using vista starter edition and whenever i check the amount of free space in my hard drive. the number goes down every few minutes like it was being drained, its like 200MB per 5-10 minutes, what is happening?

Is it a new installation? Have you recently moved files to the hard disk? It might be that Windows is indexing your hard drive to speed up searches, or windows might be creating restore points.
