HI Everyone

First time posting need some advice on overclocking if possible.

My system setup as follows

windows 7 ultimate

16 gig ram 1600mhz ripjaw

1tb hd

Rad HD 6790 card

Antec 650 watt true power psu bronze

AMD Phantom 1100t processor

Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler

Ok so i've over clocked my system to 3.19g from the stock 3.3

i've run Cinebench 3d mark 11 and Vantage all works fine with out failing no crashes seems stable

i've set the Vcore at 1.385

Temps run at 30 normal rase to about 40 when stressed

19x multipler no changes to the FSB

RAM running at full 1600mhz

When i up the CPU to 4g

the system boots no worries no changes to temps as such but if i run 3D mark stuff it will always hang on the Physics tests but passes Cine Bench CPU test do i take it system unstable at 4g ??

Any advice would like to get it to the 4g if possible, I don't like messing with the FSB because it changes the Ram settings and i'm not confident on messing with that side of it

Any help appreciated

thanks

Bit more info ran prime 95 1 hour cpu temp reached 52, and individual cores hovered around 45 blend test this on the 3.9 clock

do you think it's safe not too much stressing to bump the vcore upto 1.4 or am i better playing with the fsb now?

everything i've read says this processor 1110t hex should do 4g easy

There is no such thing as an 1110t. Perhaps you mean 1100t?

Are you changing your ram multiplier to keep your ram at ~1600mhz or are you assuming it will just stay like that (it won't)?

I think you will have to up the voltage to get it stable at that frequency. Personally, I only overclock as much as I can on stock voltage because of diminishing returns vs power consumption and heat.

Also, do not forget that the Thuban series has a bad thermal sensor. The temperatures you are reading are ~10*c lower than the actual temperatures. That said, 50*C load is still fine.

And like Jit said, your particular processor might not be able to get that high. Or your motherboard might not be able to do it. There is variation with different motherboards aswell and reviewers only use the best or ones that have proven overclocking.

I do indeed mean the 1100t amd black miss type of course, in the bios under v-ram it says 1600mhz, i haven't touched the FSB and in CPUZ it's showing as 800mhz.

I had no idea about the temp sender being wrong i've just been using amd overdrive to monitor it, I'm guessing i should be happy with the 3.9 and leave it at that

Update date managed to hit the 4ghz mark upped the vcore to 1.42 x20 multiplier no changes to the FSB or ram, ram running at 1600, prime 95 for 4 hours now and temps steady at 51c max lowest temp is 21c

Advice.......is it worth over clocking the graphics card at this stage of leaving it be ? plan on adding a second at some point

Ok

1. Keep in mind the thermal sensors of the x6 series read 10*C lower than the actual temperature. So you are running 61*C load.

2. Overclocking GPU worth it? What's worth it? Are you happy with your gaming performance now?

3. Crossfire/SLI: Just remember. Be aware of microstuttering issues still prevalent in multi-card configurations.
