Posting Problem

Hi Fellow Computer Users,

I have a posting problem

I have an Intel DX58SO socketed 1366 Mother board running an
Intel i7-920 66Ghz 4.8GT QP/8Mb/LGA1366 processor with
3X2GB Elixir DDR3 1333MHz Ram using a
Gigabyte nVidia 9800GT PCIe 512MB Graphics Card which on occassions hangs on posting.
This hanging problem is more prevelant on posting if restarted cold booted or after being used for some time although it will on rare occasions hang on a cold boot after it has been standing for some hours.


Is anyone else having this problem?
Why is this happening?
Can anyone suggest what can be done to eliminate this frustrating problem?

Just to make sure, is the motherboard properly grounded to the case? Anyways, how long is the hang? Does it eventually boot up?

This could be a hard drive problem, make sure that your data is backed up and check the SMART info on your drive. Also make sure that you have no USB memory stick connected when you boot the computer.

Thanks for your help. Will check that the mptherboard is properly grounded, but I believe it is. To your second question - it hangs forever and no it doesn't eventually boot.

Thanks for you reply, Have replaced the main drive and set it up with XP Ultimate. No memory sticks connected at boot
