Can I crossfire a 4890 and a 5850?

I have a 4890 but am very interested in the multimonitor capabilities of the 5850. Can these be crossfired? I would run all of my monitors off the 5850 with the 4890 in the background for extra punch. I have heard that the 4890 is Dx11 compatible so hopefully that wouldn't be a problem.

I've searched the web on this without much success.

Any thoughts?

No, they have to be of the same series. Lucid may change this however.

No, it's only got DX10.1

I'm quite tempted to just pick up a 5850 (since I use 3 monitors and I like the Eyefinity idea - cant get SoftTH to work) and sell my 4890 on eBay. Unfortunately, I have to also buy a new PSU if I want to CF 4890's.

I wonder if AMD will provide some sort of patch to allow CF 4890's to work like an Eyefinity card?
