hey, just finished building my i7 gaming rig and when i fire it up i'm not getting any video.
i know the card works as i tested it on a friend's PC so i suppose that only leaves the motherboard or power supply.
the card's fan powers up but i cant get any video signal, and yes, i have triple checked all of the connections.

the motherboard is an asus P6T and the PSU is a corsair 650W (should be plenty to run a GTX275)

any hints on how i could find out which one is faulty

I wouldn't limit your troubleshooting to just the PSU or motherboard. There are any number of things that can cause a "no video output" problem. Not plugging in the CPU power connector and faulty RAM are at the top of the list of common culprits. Going through EVERY step in this checklist will help you find the problem:

#2 on the checklist is the most common mistake.

surprise surprise it was #2 :sarcastic: the connector wasnt in all the way and i didnt think to check it (never occured to me that it was relevant)

many thanks mate, i was pretty damn worried that i'd somehow broken an expensive bit of kit.

oh, and sorry i didnt spot the sticky.

cheers
