New Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge reaching 90+ Degrees celsius

Hello, last night I installed a new motherboard and CPU. Everything seemed to be working fine except my CPU's temperatures. They are 50-60°C idle and quickly jump up to 80+°C reaching 95°C while playing games such as "All Points Bulletin" and "Battlefield Bad Company 2". I am using the stock heat sink with no overclocking. When Installing the heat sink I felt to see if it would move and it was firmly in place, so I believe I installed it properly. I am not sure how to proceed so any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

My hardware is as follows (copying the names directly from new egg so they may be a bit long).

First, as a precaution, I hope you're not using the high temp computer to post here. If you are, shut down and find a different system.

Second, I don't mean to offend you, but did you remove the plastic cover from your heatsink?

Other areas to check:

1. Make sure that the case fans are working.
2. Download HW Monitor, Speedfan, and Everest and check your temps in these programs to get a second, third, and fourth reading. If they're all close, then chances are good that the temps are actually that high.
3. Make sure the heatsink fan is working.
4. Get some Artic Silver 5 thermal paste, and use it in place of the OEM application. Clean off your OEM application with the highest Isopropyl Alcohol you can find, or denaturated alcohol.
5. Get some better/bigger/faster fans

I have an i7 2600k aswell. The sensors are located on the cores and yes they reach 90C under extreme conditions (i.e Intel Burn test) and theese temps are considered your CPU temp (Fore example, my ex C2D e6750 CPU temp was the Tcase temp, every software showed me Tcase temp as CPU temp, but on the i7 its shown the Core temp as CPu temp. I have a Titan Fenrir Evo 2 Cooler and it keeps the Tcase temp @ 55 - max 60 C and 85 - 95C /core (under heavy load Prime95 / Intel Burn Test).
But you did not mention that you have runned any of theese softwares on your CPU and still reached 95C. In BIOS if u stay arround 5 mins the CPU will get hot indeed.

Well I hate to admit this, but I went back and checked the heat sink pins and it seems even though it felt solid one of the pins was not placed properly. I re-inserted the pin properly and now it seems to be running at normal temperatures (High 30s to low 40s idle and low to mid 60s while playing my more demanding games). Thank you for your reply's and I am sorry to anyone who's time I may have wasted.
