GDDR3 512 or ddr3 1gb 4670

i am looking to upgrade my gpu and ive heard that GDDR3 is faster but thats 512 and i will be playing a lot of gta4 witch the more vram the better so is there any advantage to the GDDR3 over the DDR3

I think the gddr3 is slightly faster. While 4670 is not a bad card, they are probably a little too weak to really utilize the 1 gb of memory. Check out some benches on google which should provide more info.

GDDR3 is faster and im pretty sure a 4670 is not powerful enough to use 1gb anyway. Putting 1gb on lower end cards is a marketing scam.

I believe you need alot more than a 4670 for GTA4. At least to turn the eye candy on.

Yeah you might want to look into a 4850 or higher for GTA4

If 4670 is comparable to 3870, while it is, then it's comparable to 2900xt 1gb. My friend has 2900xt 1gb and I can tell that all you need is a strong cpu. Yes, you will make use of that additional ram and really, does ram speed affect in-game performance? I don't think so. From what I've noticed, if it's not too slow, and that ddr2 will not be too slow, it doesnt affect it by more than 3%.
