This is my motherboard..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128394

The computer is mostly used for watching movies, doing stuff online, and some light gaming (its an online game that runs off Java, but it does use 4x anti aliasing). so i guess the new GPU needs be able to do 4x anti aliasing easily!!!

The issue is more with my HD video. When i watch a movie at my normal screen resolution 1680x1050. The movie will have these weird (glitch) lines for about a second. It only does it when there is alot of stuff happening like and explosion or if its raining. But if i lower my resolution to 1024x768 it works fine no glitches at all.. so i am pretty sure its just my on-board video..

I am looking on newegg.com and free shipping if possible.
I have $60 to spend spend on a new card.
ALSO it needs to be a quiet card if not silent. (my computer is almost silent right now, i don't want to add a lawnmower to the system)
The case has GREAT airflow so a fanless card would do fine too!

Here are a few i have been looking into...!!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121320 $60 - 1

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121340 $60 - 0

Solution
the gso is the stronger card but all are more than sufficient for your goal, as said you don't need 1gb of ram

that said there are plenty of fanless cards out there and over say a 3670 or 8600 you should have plenty of power for your needs

The first one is actually the best of those three.

With 1680x1050 you wouldn't notice any difference between the 1gb and the 512mb versions of the 4650.

I would definitely go with the 9600 GSO though

^lol? FYI: The 9600GSO OP linked to has GDDR3 also.

Hmmm, this is a tough one. Wait, no, it's pretty simple actually - the NVIDIA 384MB 9600GSO here from XFX is cheaper, has higher overall performance, is quieter, cooler and has much more overclocking potential than the rival HD 4670 from ATI. It doesn't get much simpler than that.
PWNED!

Another +1 for the 9600GSO. It's a good card for the price. Also, OP MAKESURE you have the needed PCIe 6 pin connector!

=========
Also, if I understand Java right, it is CPU bound and does everything on CPU with out much help from a GPU, including AA/AF. So I'm not sure if you are limited by the GPU more so as your CPU/Internet in that game. HOWEVER, it should help out with HD playback a lot.

it would be a close match between the 9600gso and 4650, but the 4650 does have more memory.

and not to mention the 4xxx series handles AA alot better than the geforce 9 series (more like 8 series lol)

If your just watching movies I don't think memory will be a big deal. I used a 9600 in my old comp for a while and it proved quite good. With a quadcore processor it could play l4d on highest settings, no AA, with no lag. Seeing as you're not playing much games, the 9600 should be perfect, especially since its cheap, small, and quiet.

hey are there any progams that show the frame rate of games and stuff.... especially java games...

also when i play this game at MAX graphic at 1680x1050 it skips... but if i lower the resolution 1280x1024 it works fine... so it might be more GPU intensive then u think..??

1280x768 it runs at 50 fps (full graphics)4x anti aliasing - solid 50 at lowest graphics
1280x1024 it runs at 41 fps (full graphics)4x anti aliasing - solid 50 at lowest graphics
1680x1050 it runs at 35 fps (full graphics)4x anti aliasing - solid 50 at lowest graphics

Is fraps capped at 50 fps or what i never saw 51+
Internet speed isn't the issue here!!!

is that runescape? lol anyways java is cpu bound and not gpu bound as i tried when i was bored. On runescape, with a 4850 and athlon II 240 @ 3.4ghz = 140fps, with hd4200stock, i get 134fps, not a big difference
