My Windows desktop (XP SP3) has corrupted three different boot drives. What is most unusual is that it will run fine, but then if I power down it will not reboot when warm, but dies during Windows loading.

Occasionally a later cold boot would work, with perhaps a chkdsk. However, over time, the HDD becomes completely corrupted and "unrecoverable". This has happened to 2 SATA and 1 IDE drive.

A memory check indicates no problems. What should I check next: power supply, mobo, video controller?

Many Thanks... Karl :hello:

The entire system is a 6-month old home build with:
Windows XP, latest
Mobo: Gigabyte Ga x48 ds4
Processor: Intel Quad, Zalman cooler
RAM: Crucial Ballistix DDR2, 3G
Video: NVidia XFX 8800
PS: Antec Earthwatts 500

I'd start by checking if the ICH overheats.
