APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Τhis month

BUDGET RANGE: 600-800 €

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Surfing the internet to heavy photo editing

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS, VGA (MSI 9600GT), Power Supply (650W Tagan), case,

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: http://www.plaisio.gr/default.aspx

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Greece

PARTS PREFERENCES: I am thinking of using the i7-860 (258,80€), the Gigabyte P55M UD2 (101,00€) and a set of Corsair XMS
DDR3-1600, 4 x 2GB, 9-9-9-24 (229,00€)

OVERCLOCKING: Yes

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1200

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I was looking at the 229€ MSI P55 GD 80 but it doesn't seem to offer anything more than what the Gigabyte is offering that i can use. The cheap Gigabyte board seems more than enough for my needs but i dont know how good it will be running with a moderate OC, 7 days a week.

QUESTION: So my question to the gurus of this forum is: Should i spend the extra cash for a better board (like the MSI) or save the 100€ and go for the small Gigabyte P55M UD2?

Thanks

In my opinion, MSI's components and build quality isn't quite the same standard as Gigabyte. MSI isn't bad by any means, but I tend to go with gigabyte more often than not.

It's funny because I am in the same boat as you looking at the same parts and also using my PC for the same purposes (i.e no gaming etc).

I'm in Canada though so I think I might make a friend traveling to the US pick me up a http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0317378

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the discussions in this thread.
