Hi, im wondering if my 4850x2 1gb(512x2) is enough to run any games at 1920x1080 or will it lose fps? It runs games perfect at my current 1440x900 res. But i recently ordered a 23" monitor that goes up to 1920x1080. I usually play my games at max res with 2x or 4x aa. Also i want to know if my card even uses all 1gb of video memory or only 512mb of it. Thanks!

You'll lose some FPS, but it should still be playable. I lost a good amount when I went from just 1680x1050 to a 1920x1080 a week ago and I can still run my games awesome with single 4870 1GB.

Your card should use all of the memory.

512mb should be ample for resolutions UPTO 1920x1200. Anything above and i would recommend 768mb - 1gb Vram.

Btw in SLi configs you only use half of the RAM available. Not sure if this is the same in crossfire...no doubt someone will answer this for you.

If 512mb were good enough for upto 1920x1200 then my 9800gt 1gb would have no lag pushing a 18in crt at 1280x1024 but no even my 8800gtx is not so lucky when running gta iv or cyrsis at even high with 8x or 16x aa. 768+ is recommended or better. 1gb fares better on case by case basis than 512mb when running sli/crossire.

8x aa on GTA and crysis will pretty much lag any card. My old 8800 ultra even lagged without aa. :P

Well of course you will lose FPS going from 1440x900 to 1920x1200...it needs more GPU power!!

There are no graphics cards available (even 5870 xfire) that can run crysis on 1920x1200 @ V.high with 8xAA and get GOOD framerates!!!

At 1920x1200 the difference in performance is negligable between 512mb and 1Gb versions. Well unless your gona use 8xAA ....but your not gonna be doing that on Crysis...are you?

Look it up if you like!

Hi! No, i wont be playing any crysis because personally, i think its a bad game and is overrated :P. Ill be mostly playing the COD series, a few racing games, Some RPGS(Oblivion) and.. thats it i think :P And i like to keep my AA at 2 usually. Rarely i go to 4x if the lines are jagged like Need for speed shift on 2xaa

I can say this that my 9800gt 1gb runs Oblivion rather well (60~120fps) so if you are using the texture packs the 1gb buffer will come in handy after reading how people complained how they would run out of mem with those G80 gtx/ultra cards with 768mb.

GTAIV is not a graphics card game, it is a CPU game. A strong GPU helps of course, but the definition of quality will come from your CPU. Shoddy ports are like that.
