Well I have been researching for the past few weeks and I think I have come
up with a final build. Budget is around 2500 CAD. If you guys have any suggestions great!

Corsair Obsidian 800D case
Corsair Dominator GT 1866 Ram
Corsair HX1000 psu
Intel Core i7 920
Coolermaster Hyper 212+ wth 2 high airflow 120mm fans
Evga Classified 760 MB
WD Black 1tb HD
XFX 5870x2 once released

Monitor and keyboard and mouse I'm still looking for. This rig will be used for gaming and photo and video editing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Only reason I have the cooler master is it's much cheaper and has two fan clips. With the megahelems I only
have enough clips for one fan and it's over twice as expensive
with no fans. And hardwarecanuks testes them and saw the 212+ is only
one degree warmer

your money your choice ,another thing the i7 920 cant fully utilise ram over 1600 to its full potential

If I can find a place that sells
an extra set of clips I will ge the megahelems. And I frgot
to mention the i7 will be OC'd to 4ghz. Though I'm considering cheaper ram now.

hey its fine the cooler master is ok just thought you wanted the best.only extreme i7's can use above 1600

Regular i7s can use up to 2133MHz+ RAM modules as the RAM-multiplier is unlocked.

in a review done over here showed there is minimal gains on normal i7's on ram over 1600mhz.but on the i7 extremes there is a significant gain

Link?
I just need to see something to believe it because i was aiming at a 1600MHz RAM for i7 920 And don't want to be screwed.

cant link,my friend writes for the magazine i read his articles but im not a subscriber to the magazine but it explaines how the quick path data width is limited to 4.8t/s and the extremes are 6.4gt/s an the extra data width just hangs round on anything over 1600mhz on a normal i7 .1600mhz would be perfect for a 920

The QPI multiplier is unlocked in i7 non-extremes and since i7 uses IMC then the QPI speed can't effect but the GPUs.

funny how the OP's budget is 2500 CDN and he keeps saying to save money..and i thought money wouldnt be a concern lol...

1600 vs 2000 ram the performance is about the same because of the timings, sometimes 1600>2000

only reason I said that is why spend an extra 50 bux to barely get
a increase of a degree. I've already said I'm going to get the megahelem just need an extra set of clips. And really
why not save money that 50 bux could go into buying a ssd or another gpu
