Supply and demand.... There is only so much supply and a heck of a demand.

It's like trying to get a date with the new hot girl at work... Good luck.

Just wait, you'll get your turn. Patience man!

yeah, at first I though it was sold out too...but most places said pre-order. Newegg has only 1 review.

If you want to buy one at newegg use the auto-notify. They have had 5850s in stock but they sell out within hours so jump on as soon as you get notified. Zipzoomfly has also had stock that sold out really fast.

There are tons of people who want them and they only build/ship so many per week so until the demand backlog has been met it is going to be hard to find. I am hoping they get enough supply out by the holidays.

And this is another reason i decided to Crossfire my 4870. Everything wants the 5850... And you will be paying the $260 price for a while yet.

^^ Agreed. Frankly, there isn't enough supply to meet demand. I'm actually surprised the prices havn't jumped more as a result...

^^Me neither. I remember when the 4870 came out. The first few days it was one price and was out of stock on Newegg. When they were back in stock they increased the price $20. Hey, supply and demand. And they know they can get $20 for it because YOU want it.

Yeah, I was stupid and I bought the 5870 since the 50's were not carried by Newegg yet and I really got impatient. It's worth it though. However still .. if I had waited 2 hours I'd have gotten the 50 and saved a lil bit of cheez .. heh. I guess having a lil extra oomph can't hurt as far as future gaming needs are concerned though.

Haha, I stil can't beleive I ordered not one, but two 5870's the day of their release, and had them in my hands 48 hours later. Just gotta click that refresh button!

I found that comment funny as hell, so I have to throw this in here.
Not everyone gets a shot with the new hot girl at work, ever! It's more like dealing with the new call girl. She's booked for a while, but if you have patience and still have the cash later on I'm sure she will be available.

I plan on picking up 2 xfx 5850s sometime this month so we are on the same boat and if the Hydra chip is all that is cracked up to be I might even pick up 3. For the same price as 2 5870s I think it's a great deal.

If you are patience and bat your eyes, she will come to you. haha.

Anyways, I dunno man $260 for the card seems a little high. I am one for a good deal and, M3d you have (2) 4850's already. It you wait for Nvidia's cards to come out you can probably get a better price on the 5850's or if the nvidia cards blow them away then you have options. Right now the 5850 really has no competition so they can price as they like.
