Trouble with upgrading RAM...

I recently purchased two 1GB PC3200 UDIMM 1Rx4 to upgrade/replace the PC 3200 512mb DDR400 2 Rank 32Mx8 stick currently in my machine. My mother board is an Intel P4 D101GGC AAD35788-310. I tried every configuration possible (one at a time, both, alternated slots, etc.) to no avail. My computer would not boot up. Any suggestions?

Also, as an aside, does the fact that my old stick was 2 Rank account for the fact that the 512MB listed actually produced 960 MB of usable memory? Also, could this mean that my slots require 2 Rank sticks? The new ones are single Rank.

As it turns out, that RAM was NOT compatible with my motherboard. I've since returned it and purchased compatible RAM and everything is running smoothly. Thanks for the reply.
