Is there any way of enabling a pc to have front panel audio and raer panel audio? I want to be able to use the front panel headphone socket whilst still having the option of using the rear panel audio. Is there anyway of having set up like a laptop where you can plug headphones in to disable the speakers but then unplug the headphones and regain sound from the speakers. I am currently looking for a cable which has pins 5 and 6 connected within the header and the same with pins 9 and 10. Please help.

What are you specs for your mobo/case?? I'd just be guessing what you have. In my experience you usually don't have the option of front or back audio. You could split the signals out of back and just turn off the speakers when you want to use the headphones.

I have an Asus A7V8X-X Motherboard. I need to be able to connect together the pins ( which origanally had Jumpers on) whilst being able to plug the front Panel audio cables in. Is there any way of doing this?

Each of those pins has a wire coming to it from the front panel.

To "connect the pins", simply strip a bit of each pin's wire, and connect them with a short third wire.

Dunno why you want to connect those pins, looks like a dead short to me.

BTW, does your audio driver have settings saying "Don't disconnect the speakers when a headphone is plugged in"?

Is there any way to set up the audio on a pc so that it works in the same way as a laptop, mobile phone or TV i.e when you plug headphones in the speakers are disabled and when you unplug the headphones the speakers are active.

I'm not sure you have that option on your mobo. I looked at the mobo manual and it doesn't look like it has that option. Now you might have the option in the software that controls your audio functions, but you would have to look into that.
