[Solved] ATI or nVIDIA

Hi ,Which is the best card for gaming in 1920 x 1080 resolution :ange:

Sapphire HD 3850 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E

OR

Palit GF 9600GT 512MB GDDR3

None of the cards you posted can sustain quality gameplay (not even at low-medium settings) in current games at that resolution. My advice to you is to give an estimate of how much money you can spend and what PSU you have and the members of this community will give better solutions for your problem.

I think that the 9600GT is the best option, but the brand don't like me too much. In the link you can see that many people prefer the HD 3850, but is a older card compared with the 9600GT.

For performance, get the HD 3850, is a good card for a good price.

Can any one say wat is the big difference with this cards! My budget is maximum RS 4000, The retailers are saying rs 4000 for these two gfx cards!

Sorry, I was a little to harsh with that card. I was considering my standards of quality (I got used to having an ATI 4870). The extra ram on the 3850 will help with the high resolution, where only 512 will become a bottleneck with AA on. So my recommandation is the ATI 3850.

I think that the 9600 GT is a little bit faster, but none of them is really good for 1920x1080

In normal conditions , yes the 9600 GT is faster by 5-10%. But considering the amount of VRam on the 3850 will make up for the difference at that resolution.

But my budget doesnot allow me to buy a 9600, an XFX 9600GT 512MB GDDR3 cost RS5000 & a Sapphire HD 3850 1GBB GDDR3 for just RS4000, So i will buy a HD 3850

An HD 3850 seems to run at around $90 at this moment on Newegg. Assuming you're paying an average price for it, why not just get the HD 4770? I couldn't imagine buying that kind of generation old hardware right now. Also, I'm really not sure about those Crysis benchmarks you posted. That quality must've been really low at those resolutions.

But that card only has a bus width of 128 and 128 bus width gfx cards doesnot use more than 512 vram(From internet,dont know its true) and 128 bit gfx cards lags on AA on

ATI 4770 has a bus of only 128bit, BUT the memory is GDDR5 which makes up for the bandwidth, making the card almost equal with ATI 4850 (258bit + GDDR3). 128bits =/= 128 MB of memory. The 128 bits is the width of the bus which carries information from the CPU to the graphics card (I suggest a little reading into the matter). Coupled with the fast GDDR5 memory, the 128 bit bus will be enough for any current game(medium-high details), giving you 2-3x times the performance of 3850 at any resolution, even with only 512 MB of memory. If you can get a 4770 with 1GB of memory at a good price, that is the card I suggest you to buy, otherwise search for a 4770 with 512MB. If the cards are too expensive buy the 3850.

Whatever you're trying to say, the 3850 is not on any kind of remote performance tier as the 4770. Especially when taking into account efficiency and power. It's actually two generations ahead. The cards cost about the same price and the 4770 will definitely perform better than the 3850. There's no reason to buy the 3850 at that price point. Please note it's the 3850 and not a 4850.

3850 is old hardware because it is 2 generations old. ATI released the 5850 and 5870 graphic cards and nVidia has the 2xx GTX generation.
