I wanted to upgrade my CPU from q6600 to Q9650, but my BFG 680i SLi does not support Q9650.

Thus, I will get the i7-920 with a X58-SLi motherboard.
I prefer the i7-920 (rather than i7-8xx or i5) for different reasons: gaming, because I have SLi, and because the next 6-8 core CPU will be using socket 1366 (most probably).

Beside Motherboard and CPU, it is there anything else that I should buy in order to update my system?

1) Is my current PSU BFG 1000w compatible with X58 mobo? I am currently using it for the 680i mobo.

2) I have 4GB (4x1GB) PC-6400 (800MHz) OCZ memory - Can I use 3x of this ram with the X58 mobo? Would my memory be compatible? (I know that this memory is slow, but this would be temporary, just to start)

------------------------------ Q6600/BFG 680i SLi
8800GT SLi
PC-6400 4GB OCZ
X-Fi Gamer/1000w PSU
The PSU should be fine

The RAM needs to be DDR3, so no that RAM will not work. Here is a good set I recommend;

OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820227365 ($131.99)
Free OCZ 4GB flash drive w/ purchase, while supplies last

Yes, Transmaniacon is right. The i7 chips require DDR3 RAM, so your DDR2 RAM won't work.
