Upgrading mobo 680i to X58: what can I keep? Help pls
I wanted to upgrade my CPU from q6600 to Q9650, but my BFG 680i SLi does not support Q9650.
Thus, I will get the i7-920 with a X58-SLi motherboard. I prefer the i7-920 (rather than i7-8xx or i5) for different reasons: gaming, because I have SLi, and because the next 6-8 core CPU will be using socket 1366 (most probably).
Beside Motherboard and CPU, it is there anything else that I should buy in order to update my system?
1) Is my current PSU BFG 1000w compatible with X58 mobo? I am currently using it for the 680i mobo.
2) I have 4GB (4x1GB) PC-6400 (800MHz) OCZ memory - Can I use 3x of this ram with the X58 mobo? Would my memory be compatible? (I know that this memory is slow, but this would be temporary, just to start)

The PSU should be fine
The RAM needs to be DDR3, so no that RAM will not work. Here is a good set I recommend;
