AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual

Hi,

One of my friends wants to buy a new computer to do web browsing and burn DVD's. He does not want to spend a lot of money.
MY research shows that the AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor seems pretty good to run Windows 7 for his needs. Does anyone have any comments to make about this processor? No one I know uses AMD processors and I do know in the olden days they had heat issues.

  1. It's a fantastic processor... Will even run videogames fairly well if matched with a Radeon4670.

Also it is at the bottom of the AMD Performance list so with a fair motherboard you can upgrade really easily in the long run.
  2. It would be a good choice.
  3. What Intel chip does this Athlon compare to?
  4. It is a very cool running chip thanks to its low wattage (I have the Athlon II X2 250).

Here's a review of its big brother (I wanted to post the whole thing so you could look to the benchmark that most applies to what you are doing).
