i;m builiding a computer for the first time and i have the scythe mugen 2 cooler for the i7 920. i am not positive but i might have installed the fan in the wrong spot or backwards or something.

which side of the heeatsink is the fan supposed to be on. i have it on the left, closest to the back wall of the case. it is right next to the case fan back there (i have the cm 690 case).

also, which fan label is supposed to be on the outside. if the black one is out, it blows one way, but i can't tell which. if the white label is out, it blows the other way. right now i have the black label out.

also, just out of curiosity, when i replaced the backplate for the cpu with scythe's, did it void my mobo's warranty?

thanks

There is no one correct answer for this, but in general you don't want fans working against each other. So if at the back of your case the case fan is pulling air out of your case, make sure your heatsink fan is blowing air towards that fan, not pulling the other way. Generally you want a fan in the front of the case pulling outside air in, the heatsink fan blowing air on it from the front towards the back and a fan pulling air out of your case in the back. But it really depends on your case. Just try to spread the fans out as much as you can.

I can't remember on the fan that comes with it, but generally there are arrows on the side telling you which way it blows.

Not sure about the warranty.
