Compaq NC4010 Laptop reinstall

We have just purchased the Compaq NC4010 Laptop, small and very
compact looking.

The problems comes from the fact that the O/S (XP Pro) is pre-loaded
all that has to be done is add some basic configuration details. The
problem here is that one of the Tec's has added an admin password and
it doesn't work (he swears he entered password. We've tried every
combination!)

The problem is that as the floppy and cd drive are external they are
not recognised on boot up. The CD and floppy drive are connected via
USB. We feel it may need to login successfully once to recognise them.
As we can't login as we don't know the password and it's not on the
network, How do we re-image if it doesn't recognise the CD or Floppy
drive.
