Processor Speed

Hello, I have a Toshiba Satellite L775. I purchased this laptop with the understanding that it had a 2.3ghz pocessor. It said so in the ad. 3 weeks after purchasing it I had to send it back to the factory because the time and date kept speeding up. I would have to keep resetting it. The factory replaced the whole motherboard. When I got the laptop back, I noticed that it seemed to be a little slower than before. I checked the processor speed by clicking on computer and selecting properties. It showed my procressor speed to be 1.40ghz. Did they install a slower processor or is that what it actually is? I have an AMD Quad core.

  1. Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

Did you remember the CPU which arrive with the laptop originally?
  2. What processor is it? That 1.4Ghz is probably a downclocked speed to conserve power, push the processor with a stressful application and it should speed up.
