I use an Accounting program written in Basic (1989). Works extremely well and I run it through a HP laptop via the DOS command. I am having problems printing to an Epsom LX 400 or LX 800 using continuous feed paper for the general journal. I tried a program called dos to usb which worked fine until it required registering and I have no idea who to contact as there is no info. as to the suppliers.
Critical time of year for me (financial year end) and I'm stuck! HP handles the program perfectly but I cannot print to a dot-matrix printer.
Please help - any advice much appreciated.

Go to printers, right-click on it and select sharing. Enable sharing and remember the share name. Right-click on "my computer" and select the "computer name" tab. Remember the computer name (not description).

Assuming your old program is looking to print to LPT1, open a command as "Administrator". Now type in:

net use LPT1: \\computer name\shared printer name /PERSISTENT:YES

substituting your remembered computer name and shared printer name in the line above.

Now try printing.
