EVGA Killer Xeno Pro 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI Express 1x

ASRock ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366
Sub Total: $1395

I do not plan to ever put more than 2 cards in my machine, so the EVGA mobo is rather useless I'm looking for recomendations.

I do not need more than ~300GB of HD Space, will a raid out preform a raptor brand HD?

Obviously there is no Graphics card, probably going with a single 5870 then adding a 5870x2 along with two monitors.

I need a pci(or pci-ex) sound card with a headphone amp, will the amp amp the front panel? otherwise I don't need it

Planning on an overclock of ~3.5ghz need a cpu cooler.

The killer xeno pro is a waste (IMO)

If you don't plan to use more than two cards, you should consider a Asus P6T SE and a 5850.

12 gigs of RAM seems a bit over kill imo not to mention with those tall heat spreaders getting a decent size h/s on any board might be a chore and then some not to mention the heat with six sticks side by side. And as the other poster stated, that card is a waste of $100. This Samsung HD down below runs significantly faster than that WD 500 you chose.

*Updated, Thanks for the MoBo recommendation.

Why the mushkin ram? it seems to be slower than the g skill.

the 12GB ram and network card are things I want to push to the limits and see what I can do with them.

The ASRock x58 Extreme and the ECS x58B-A are great for the i7 920 for budget boards. You will not likely get an overclock higher than 3.6 GHz, just FYI (not that you really need to).

Get the Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT25664BA1339. You can up the speed to 1600, and the timings on my i7 920 is 7-7-7-19. For the price to performance ratio, nothing beats it. Plus, more than 4GB is overkill for gaming. No noticeable gained performance with triple channel, yet.

No need for an after market cooler, just so you know. You can reach 3.6 GHz overclock with just 1.25V. Arctic Silver 5, and if you want to, lap your stock heatsink and fan.

What's your monitor resolution? The GTS 250 512MB will suit most gaming needs (plus you can overclock it).

------------------------------ Win 7 x64 | ASRock M3A780GXH/128M | Phenom II x720 BE 3.7GHz at 1.525V | 45C Idle - 61C Max | 4GB Crucial DDR3 1333 RAM at 1600 w/8-7-7-18 timings | GTS 250 512MB OC'd | $470 Total price of entire system.

4.0GHz is an easy o/c for that board, some review sites had a nice stable o/c of 4.4GHz with that board. Six gigs of RAM is standard for an X58 board , these cpu's can run hot so yes you do want an after market h/s,and don't be recommending a gts 250 gpu for a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Now this is like the third idiotic post Iv'e read from you today. Head on over to "Johnny Guru" and spread your wisdom to those blokes but don't be giving any more advice on here when it's obvious you don't have a clue.

1920x1080, the GTS 250 is not capable of what I need from a card, I am a heavy multi-tasker. Currently maxing out my 4gig ram in the system I use now.

I plan to resell or just ditch the i7 920 once gulphtown is releases.

Hey, we can do without the negativity. If they want to spend more money than they need to on a graphics card, I'm not holding them against it. I build computers not just for myself, but for family, friends, and small companies. I've seen incredulous builds with people spending more money than they need to, but they want what they want. Instead of replying something derogatory, post something useful.

I'm speaking from experience, not just from "reading review sites" on the web. I don't know your background, and won't assume, but let the dude decide for himself. Geez, it's like you're working for Asus and Mushkin or something.

For the record, I've built 3 PC's using the ASRock Xtreme since I've found board availability. All 3 used i7 920's, some with triple channel memory, some with dual channel memory. I got to 4.2 GHz on one board with dual channel memory, and 3.8 GHz and 3.6 GHz respectively on the others. Just because one lucky bloke got their setup directly from a manufacturing company that wants their product reviewed, the average consumer isn't going to get that lucky. Don't rely on review sites, bud.

Gg, no re.

You were using dual channel memory with that X58 board eh ? Do tell please. :)

What games do you play at that resolution? If you're a heavy gamer, then at the least a GTX 275 or HD 4870. I'd put some emphasis on your PSU for future pairings (at least 2 +12 rails at 40 amps, or 4 +12 rails at 20 amps).

What do you multi-task? I'm the same way, but don't work any graphics intensive applications. I did notice 4GB did put a little strain on my i7 920 Win7 x64, so I added another 4GB. Nothing's come close so far with 8 GB.

This OCZ gold RAM is a really good deal;

>< looked at the 128gb SSD's , then looked at my games folder its over 200gb by it self :(

You need to be running 6GB of RAM minimum with an i7-920 since it utilizes triple channel RAM, so your choices are 6GB or 12GB. 6GB will be more than enough for your needs, if you find you need more, you can always add it later.

8-8-8-24 Timings on the OCZ gold, they are a good value though :S

"What games do you play at that resolution?" Everything, PSU is linked on first post along with the Graphics card I am thinking about.

For your "review site" reading pleasure: http://xtreview.com/review232.htm

I've done my own testing of triple channel memory with dual channel (I build computers for other people, so I test it on my own system first). I can't tell any difference except for synthetic benchmarks. Dual Channel on my rig also won out on those synthetics.

Saving $50 to go with one higher cas latency is well worth it, unless you are going for some record overclocks, the super-tight timings aren't a priority.
