ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Recently got a fellowship which comes with an allowance of $1000 for computer stuff, so I was thinking that I can replace my 3-year old Inspiron 9400 laptop with a decent desktop (improvement in performance) and netbook (improvement in portability when I need it).
For the desktop, I don’t intend for any future upgrades to this system (except maybe adding a few sticks of RAM) so I am looking for a balanced system that will age gracefully. I think I spec’d out a decent desktop given the discussions I have seen in this forum, but I would like some feedback from you experts on whether there are areas of my build (including the netbook) that I should either beef up or tone down.
Don't know about netbooks, but they're not really for the power user, so I don't know why anyone would want to spend more than $200 for one. They're more for web browsing and using Office, correct?
Is the Crucial DDR3 1333 really faster than G.SKILL DDR3 1600??
Ya, the netbook is mainly for giving me the portability that I need for work and travel, and not for gaming or power-user applications. Its something I will probably use a lot, so I was looking for something worthwhile.

I would stick with the G.Skill, its going to stay a lot cooler with the heatsinks, and it looks a hell of a lot cooler
