I would recommend either an AM3 socket build, or a 1156 socket build. Both allow you future upgrade options, and are not much more than the Core 2 Duo build.
AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE - $119.99 > Intel C2D E8400
Intel i5 750 - $199.99 > Phenom II X3 > E8400
Also, there is a template stickied at the top of this forum that will help people give you better advice.
@Transmaniacon +1 on i5...775 is EOL. And I also agree in regards to the PSU...I wouldn't trust that brand. Corsair is one of the best. But hey, its your money!
Agreed on the psu. It looks like a crappy one and should be replaced too. The Corsair TX750 is a good psu and has enough power and pcie connectors for future sli or crossfire.
You are right that DDR3 is not important to performance. However, there is the issue of upgrades. DDR3 is the newer RAM and will be in use for many years to come.
I have to agree that you would be better off with the i5 750. WoW uses 4 cores now you know, and many new games will be designed for quad core CPUs.
Motherboard: Atm not so sure on where to go with this.
Ok so far the total is $732, but im getting $90 back cause im returning my power supply so thats $642. Now that leaves us around $150 for a motherboard. Any suggestions or did i miss anything?
