I picked up a Sapphire 5870 recently, and i seem to be getting very low scores 3d mark vantage, also seems i'm not getting the FPS i should be getting in games ethier. All settings default BTW (on 3dmark).
GPU Score: 11,100
CPU Score: 9,200
3dMark Vantage Score: 10k
Specs:
Windows 7 (x64) RC7 7100
AMD PhenomII x4 920 @ stock (2.8)
Biostar 790gx 128m Mobo
4 Gbs Corsair xms 1066
Sapphire 5870
I kno my CPU isnt the best out there but its a overall pretty recent chip, I think my scores should be higher. Am i right? Especially my GPU score i would think. For the last couple of days ive been googling like crazy to try and figure this out, and cant seem to get anywhere.
Can anyone help me out in this matter?
Thanks!

I think i am using 9.10 (beta). Unless the ones you mentioned and these are the same. I got them off of 3dguru. I had the 8.66 i got from ATI's website before these and performance didn't seem to change at all. Also i should mention, i OC'd my 5870 to 900/1300 and i didn't see any diff in 3d vantage etheir. Leads me to think my CPU is bottlenecking, but a quad 2.8 shouldn't be bottlenecking this bad should it?

I am running it vantage at default (performance). My guess is i should be hitting 15kish at least. I have been looking at this discussion here. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1034721060 And there is a guy running a PhenomII 940 and hitting 16k. And in my googling adventures ive read numerous of people with similiar rig to mine getting 15-16-17k scores (GPU at least). I'm just not sure where to go from here. Thanks again for the replys.

Looks like you're not the only one...
I got 13k. And the funny thing is I'm using an i7...
My specs:
Intel i7 920 (stock)
PSU 800W OCZ elite Xstream
Windows Vista x64
3 Gigs DDR3 OCZ Platinum
DFI X58 T3eH6
HIS 5870(stock)
I checked out Truibitar's video in youtube, he got around 17k all stock settings. Except he 6 gigs of ddr3...And he's using catalyst 9.9...
STILL looking for a cure.

Same thing here man. Tried installing new catalyst drivers, uninstalling em, installed the new one...etc. But still showed the same old *** on 3dmark vantage...AND guess what, when I used virtualmark, it showed I'm using RADEON 5850 instead of 5870. And I'm using 5870 not 5850! Checked out GPU-Z clocks are running on 5870 specs correctly...I'm totally confused here.

I just did the virtualmark also and its also tellin me im runnin a %$#$ 5850. WTF is goin on here. I would be first to say its a driver issue but not if 95% of ppl who own this card arent havin the problems we are. And it seems no matter what drivers ppl are usin (besides us lol) they get much higher than us. Bleh man what the hell, I dont kno what to do anymore i tried everything i can think of. In my opinion i dont think our cards are bad. If i can get this card runnin 100% i would ******* love it.

I'm downloading Vantage myself actually and I hope to help you guys kinda get an idea on whether or not you are having problems or whether maybe Vantage just does not take full advantage of the cards power. Honestly though I'm thinking that may be the case. Sometimes certain things just ... don't run well on certain cards.

What are you guys scoring on 3dMark06 out of curiosity? I felt like I scored a bit low in that, actually. Around 17,775 is what I usually score with all settings at default. I fellt like it should be closer to 19,000 though with my CPU. But maybe I'm just expecting too much. After all I can max Crysis Warhead easily and still get frame tearing .. haha. So I shouldn't be complaining.

One thing you might want to try - get the prog called "game booster" made by iobit. It will optimize your system for gaming and performance by shutting down non-essential progs and tasks while you run benchmarks and games. It may give you a better idea of how fast your system is .. and who knows it might shut down something that's hogging resources and release the beasts' power.

Man, WTF. i just scored 15,211 on 3dmark06. I don't understand. Also im going to add that in RE5 benchmark or crysis benchmark. It doent seem to matter if i have AA off or on x8 or x16 (on crysis) My FPS dont seem to change. if they do it's very minimal like nothing i do makes a difference in my score.

Maybe, i guess im willing to try anyhting. So install drivers before i put card in. Will ATI drivers install? I could be wrong but if it doesnt detect that you have a ATI card installed at the time your trying to install the drivers it will tell you no hardware detected and make you exit the driver installation process. I could be wrong tho, but before i go and do all this ( 5870 is to big of a beast to be takin it out for no reason) can somone confirm that i will infact even be able to install drivers before card is installed?

I used driver sweep before I installed the 8.66RC6 to get my 4870's 9.9 drivers off of there, you might try that if you haven't already done so before you go physically pulling the card out
Taking the card out shouldn't make any difference, Windows does use generic drivers but once you install the new drivers it uses them instead.
And what are your FPS in games? I assume you already know but just in case...if you have vsync on it will limit your FPS to whatever refresh rate your monitor is set to, so if your using FRAPS or something on a monitor with a 60hz refresh rate your FPS wil never go above 60...just a thought.

Almost...turning off vsync in CCC REALLY boosted up my fps and turning off everything/lowering the settings/back to factory settings in ATI Catalyst Control Center (I kinda meddle with it before doing some stuff...maybe my fault all the way?). but sadly it crashed twice before going onto the final benchmark test so I'm going to restart my pc again and run it one more time.

I scored just over 10k with a Q6600 at 3.45ghz btw. This card is being bottlenecked by older cpu's no doubt about it. I get 19100 on 3dmark06 on the phenom II btw.
There is something wrong with my card though, I'm getting random crashes with the odd artifact still. Looks like a probable RMA and I'm checking to see if it's the core or memory that is the problem.

Ok since I uninstalled the official drivers from amd, and installed the disc driver, everything has been fine...at least up till now.If you have a Sapphire card and are experiencing any issues, it might be worth using the driver on the disc for now.
whats your score in mark06 i got 17000 with the 5870 using cd drivers (sapphire card) it seems about right

I was having the same problem with i5 750@4Ghz on p5p77d and hd5870.
My gpu score in vantage was around 13k ajavascript: validform(this);s a 5850.
I had mount the video card on the second PCI express slot to have the best air flow.
I assumed that was the same. I weas wrong.
As I use the primary PCI express slot I have my fair 17k gpu score with 900Mhz core and 1300mhz memory stock cooling with standar fun control. I hope this help who was in my same condition.

so then i got into the ati catalyst and set the settings under 3d to performance instead off quality and did the test again and got 17000 which looks more normal
