You mean the monitor is blank except for a message that it cannot display the video? If so, then try booting up in safe mode, then open up the display properties and reset the screen to the native monitor resolution with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. then reboot normally.

If this is not the problem please explain with more details, especially the exact message you get.

I tried rebooting in safe mode and it still showed the same message. Our daughter has Down Syndrome and plays with the buttons on the monitor. Last time that was the problem (not same screen message that time).

What is the brand and model number of that monitor? Maybe she set it to a different input.

I am away for a while so don't know the model number but it is a 15" Dell Flat screen. (not a great big monitor, by the way)

When you get back post the exact model number so I can look at the manual.
