Mobo DVI not outputting

I have an Asus M3A78-CM board and use the on board video (it is a small business machine). The specs say it supports dual monitor display but I cannot get output from the DVI port whether there is one or two monitors plugged in. It has one DVI and one D-Sub. There are no other problems.
I could really benefit from dual monitors at work. Please help.
