OK, just got my system put together and have had it running for a couple weeks now. My big problem is when i shut down my PC and then start it back up, it will start for a couple seconds (lights come one, fans spin, etc.) then it shuts it self off. A couple seconds later, it will turn itself back on and repeat the process, After doing that a couple times, it will finaly stay on and boot like normal. I am really scared that this power cycle thing is hurting my hardware. Does anyone know what could cause this and how i can fix it :??: Any info is extremely appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

I think you could try a BIOS update at this point. There is SOME risk involved so be very careful to follow instructions carefully. This is only done when you have a moderately serious issue.

You will find newer versions of your BIOS and detailed instructions here:

This is a feature of your BIOS. It indicates that some setting in the BIOS is failing and it's resetting to fix it.

The usual suspect is the DRAM voltages and frequency and timings.

So you should go into your BIOS and Just look to see what the DRAM frequency, timings, and voltage are at.

If the frequency is 1066 (may say 533)or lower, and the timings are 5-5-5-15 or greater, and the voltage is 2.1V, the settings are probably OK.

ok i have the frequency and the timings down i just can't find where the voltage if for the RAM

Reply to Vaxorth25

would you know where in a Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS4 that the voltage timings are found?

Reply to Vaxorth25

On the M.I.T page I think you have to select Manual for the system voltage control. then it should appear.

Try asking Patriot support, I bet they would know.

Hopefully that is .05V not .5V. If you read over what I have already written you will find the correct voltage.

I have all of the RAM Settings applied but it is still doing it what else could cause it?

Reply to Vaxorth25

I'm not sure, I don't have the manual and I don't know where in the BIOS you would see the version. I'm sorry if I'm not good with all the the BIOS stuff, this is my fist build and I just want to have a strong and stable system. If you know where it is at, I can probably get it for you.

It's displayed at start up, but may go by fast. I thin k you can get it from inside windows though....

yes, CPU-Z will tell you.

CPU-Z

just fire it up and look at the mainboard tab.

I got the BIOS Updated all the way to the F6c Beta and it is still doing it........I'm just completely confused. Are there any other factors that could cause this?
