well then i have downloaded off many servers including the microsoft ones, i still hit a max download and stays constant at 120kbps so would you think the modem is hindering the full potential????

It is possible, I dont know anything about your modem so I cant really say. Was it designed to handle 2MB connections? The best I can suggest is to go to the manufacturers web site and see if this is a documented issue, and if so whether there is a firmware fix.

The Technical specs of this modem are, but i now know what you meant

ADSL Compatability

ANSI T1.413 Issue 2

ITU-T G.992.1 (G.DMT)
-Download Data Rate Stream up to 8Mbps
-UpStream Data Rate Up to 1Mbps

ITU-T G.992.2 (G.lite)
-DownSteam up to 1.5Mbps
-Upstream 512Kbps

Rate Adaptive Modem at 32Kbps steps

So it should handle the connection speed at 2Mbps?

You can go to http://www.dslreports.com. Then from the tool menu you can do a speed test. This will give you a good indication of your connection's speed.
