Just recently my pc just died. It won;t come on.

The power supply light is on. The motherboard has a light with some digits on which is on and showing some figures. However the on/off button is not doing anything. Averything else appears dead.

Is the on/off switch died or could there be a wider problem? How can I tell?

I have checked the switch. I removed the cables and tried to short the terminals with no effect.

The motherboard is Abit AL8. When switch on the power supply at the back, the MOBO LEDs show 0.0. When you press the front switch the LEDs change to 8.3 (which means ATX power ready according to the manual). At least this proves the front switch is working ok (?)

I have removed memory and tried switching on - no effect. Tried remoing mobo power supply, no effect. REmoved battery and re-inserted - no effect.

Next bit in the sequence is 8.4 ddr voltage ready. Could this be the problem?
