Hey guys,

I'm currently running a i5 2500k on a Asus p8p67m-pro board @ 4.5Ghz @ 70+ degrees celcius with a cooler master tx3 when running prime95.
Is this normal?
I am considering upgrading to a 212 w/push pull, 612 or a v6 gt(preferably cause it looks awesome!)
My only worry is that I'm running a 550w power supply. Is this enough to feed my system and new cooler?

O, I have a Msi 6850 power edition oc aswell(if it helps)

Thanks in advance

Solution

Problem is the V6GT is 165mm tall and your case is only 200mm wide and has side fans.
It's big and will eat up dimm area and it's also on the loud side.
I don't think it's a good match for you and might not fit imo.
Best you could do is add a 212+ or EVO = you'll lose the top side fan probably(which isn't a big deal)
Or just stay with what you have.
Yes all is fine.
The 212+ will yield better temps and operate quieter =120mm fan vs TX3 92mm fan.
That's about it,there's nothing currently wrong with your set-up.
The psu has nothing to do with the cooler and is fine for your specs.
Btw you'll never hit 70C during normal daily use.
What temps do you have idle and when gaming?
I'm waiting for all the guys to say you need an $80+ cooler lol!

At idle my temps are +- 31 degrees celcius. I didn't check temps while gaming but my cpu never reaches more than 50%.
And what is your thoughts on the v6 gt?
I just want my cpu to run as cool as possible.
I have a Aerocool RS-9 with 6 fans(2in and 4out) so my MB temps are nice and cool. +-27 degrees celcius

Think I'm just going to opt for the 212+ then.

Thanx for the help! Much appreciated!
