im not sure what is in a g5 nor do i care but im sure its diffrent socket and chipset alltogether. Now if you really wanted the xeon not sure why but if you do change the motherboard and make it into a real PC

then that begs the question, would the mac OSX run on a regular motherboard with XEON proocessors. I think they use XEON to keep up with apple. I'm not sure how they do it now, but i know that in the past, the reason the mac processors were always several .x GHz behind is because the algorithms were more shorter and condensed as opposed to the x86 soon to be pentium processors

Its against Apple's EULA to run OSX on non Apple hardware... however if you search hard enough on line and get the right hardware...

The processors are not at all interchangeable, just as you can't put an i5 in socket AM3, you also cannot put a xeon in place of the G5, different pin layouts, voltages, and support chipsets prevent it.

However, if you replaced the motherboard and CPU's it is possible to get os X to run on non-apple hardware, but it is against the EULA. if you'd like to read about it look for osx86.

@socalbits yes, you can run it on a regular motherboard with xeon processors, or standard pentium4, core2, and even AMD's.

It's an adapter for the processor; just found one today! It changes the pin layouts from one socket to another for the G5. If u want to check out the site, ask and I'll post it
