I'd love to get advice for a new system that is fairly quiet to be left on all the time.
I mainly do development (Visual studio) and have 2 big monitors.
I'd love a nice QUIET system that is reliable.
I plan to do a one button OC and forget about it.
Going to be running Win7 which has been stable for me since beta1 on my laptop.

Going to order it tonight if I get some thumbs up from you guys.

Q1... Should I spend extra $ on faster ram.
Q2.. What do you think of this HD? A few post about reliability. I'm not doing raid... I've had issues with raid 0 and have a server running nearby.
Q3.. I have water cooling on my current system-which I'm keeping. Might move it later if CPU fan is noisy.
I have spare good case/dvds/blue ray/psu already.

The build looks solid. If you live anywhere near Microcenter, you can get the i7 860 for $229.

Well, I'm going to go ahead and suggest this Samsung F3 Spinpoint which is also 1TB just because it's about $20 cheaper and is generally faster and very reliable. As for the rest of it, thumbs up!

Someone handed me the wd1001fals, 1tb caviar black.. Is it good to use a gift drive?
Perhaps I'll do a nice chkdsk /f or something...

Hey, if it's free, it's always a good option .

A caviar black drive is about as good as it gets right now. The samsung F3 is cheaper at about the same performance so it gets recommended for people buying.
