I currently have a AMD Phenom II x 3 720 BE on a:

GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX MOBO.

I am using OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P16004GK - Retail

I have been having some issues getting the RAM to run at advertised speeds, and after talking to OCZ support I found out that A: my RAM is optimized for a Intel P55.
B: one stick has errors after running memtest86

Luckily I got the RAM at Micro Center and am within 30 days so I plan on returning it. But what I want to know what RAM should I get that will work for my CPU MOBO combo? Or should I just try to get another OCZ Platinum kit?

Thanks for all your help.

Before you return the ram, be aware that no brands of pc1600 may run at this speed with the 720 BE. With one core disabled, it isn't designed to run faster than 1066 on many motherboards. You will get instability. If you get lucky, and are able to unlock the disabled core and it's stable, then 1600 might be possible.

Thanks for that info, one of the RAMS is showing error when I run memtest86 so I was still going to return the RAM. I am planning on trying to unlock the 4th core in the future, once I get a bit more computer "savoy". Do you think I should just switch out the RAM with another same kit or should I look into different RAM?
